Honey’s mission is to empower NFT users with simple financial tools
Our team is dedicated to building open and transparent financial primitives, previously inaccessible to NFT holders. We built this protocol because we believe in the ability for NFTs to bring crypto to the masses, and with it, all the benefits of decentralised finance. The idea of obtaining yield on NFTs sitting in your wallet is a simple yet powerful demonstration of what can be accomplished in DeFi, and how we can innovate over our traditional financial system, rather than trying to emulate it.
NFT loans and liquidity mining are the first financial tools in the Honey toolkit that allow us to onboard NFT users into DeFi. Our roadmap consists of building on top of these primitives to constantly create new opportunities for the ecosystem. Yield vaults for NFTs, Learn-to-Earn, experimental airdrops are just the first examples of this iterative building process.
The surest way to scale is to be fully permissionless and open source. We believe contributing to an open-source ecosystem of decentralised applications creates a virtuous cycle of improvement which pushes the space forward, and thus pushes our community forward. We pledge that everything published by Honey Labs and the Honey Development Association will be fully open source and made for others to build on top of.
Education is the cornerstone of our mission to empower users with DeFi. Without it, we simply create new financial tools, but keep the same outcome as our traditional financial system: widening the gap between the haves and have-nots.
We have no interest in rebuilding financial infrastructure just to end up where we started. Empowerment can only be achieved if users understand the utility of the tools we create, and fully understand their associated risks.
DeFi allows for equality of opportunity while education allows us to seize those opportunities to achieve equality of outcome. We believe DeFi without education is a waste of our collective resources, and that great builders must also seek to be great educators.
Our team is driven to help build this vision of an NFT / metaverse ecosystem that can on-board the next billion users into DeFi.
